Arshad Ajmal is a distinguished social activist and currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Sahulat Microfinance Society in New Delhi, India. Under his leadership, Sahulat Microfinance Society has been at the forefront of facilitating interest-free microfinance through cooperatives. Ajmal is widely recognized for developing a pioneering model of interest-free finance through cooperatives and for establishing the first interest-free cooperative in Bihar.
Sahulat serves low-income group families across 13 states in India. Currently, Sahulat has a network of 57 affiliated IFCCS and 111 branches, serving more than 330,000 beneficiaries. The beneficiaries are actively engaged with the cooperative branches to fulfill their needs, ensure the growth of their income, and bring happiness and prosperity to their families. Among them, 14% of the beneficiaries are women.
Established in 2010, Sahulat Microfinance Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting interest free microfinance in India. With Ajmal’s guidance, Sahulat has successfully established 51 legal entities and 101 branches across India. Ajmal’s relentless efforts have significantly impacted the financial inclusion of marginalized communities, fostering a sustainable and equitable financial ecosystem.
